Designer Travel set for expansion with new recruits

Designer Travel has bolstered its operations team with a focus on new starters and recruitment.

Darren Bien and Jayne Marlor have joined the business after six months with Travel Counsellors and lengthy careers with Thomas Cook.

The Lancashire-based company, set up by former Co-operative Travel directors Amanda Matthews and Karen Pocock in 2008, has more than 100 homeworkers.

The new recuits will reinforce management support offered to the existing team members “whilst providing the business with an opportunity to attract new home-based travel experts who are the right fit for the luxury travel business”.

Joint owners Matthews and Pocock said: “At this very challenging time for travel we can clearly see the opportunities to grow in our sector, with a focus for us on recruiting quality experts over quantity.

“For us it’s important to attract people that will fit into the team and will enjoy being part of our friendly, family culture.

“We are a business that enjoys a focus on offering luxury travel products – we know that market sector really well, it’s what we all do best.

“Darren and Jayne both come highly recommended and we are very excited and positive about the long-term future.”

The expansion came in the wake of the company creating a ‘We Stand Together’ video for its 100 consultants to send to their MPs to highlight the impact of Covid on the travel sector.
