Crystal resumes restaurant partnership with Nobu Matsuhisa

Luxury line Crystal has confirmed Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony will both feature speciality dining venue Umi Uma by Nobu Matsuhisa Restaurant and Sushi Bar when they relaunch later this year.

The two ocean ships are undergoing an extensive refit after being acquired by A&K Travel Group last year alongside the Crystal Cruises brand. The line was rebranded to Crystal – Exceptional at Sea in February this year as part of a new website and branding.

Umi Uma was a popular fixture on previous Crystal Cruises ships. Said to be inspired by the “traditions of the Orient”, the venue features signature dishes such as Nobu-style black cod, grilled Chilean sea bass, Wagyu beef filet steak and fresh sushi from the venue’s Sushi Bar.

“It wouldn’t be Crystal without having one of the most popular restaurants Umi Uma back onboard when the new Crystal sets sail,” said Bernie Leypold, senior vice president of hotel operations at Crystal.

“Crystal’s guests have come to know and love the exquisite offerings chef Nobu has created specifically for Umi Uma and we are so grateful for Crystal to be the only cruise line with a Nobu restaurant at sea.”

Matsuhisa added: “Crystal is known for their award-winning food and beverage program bringing an authentic dining experience with efficient and personalised service, and we are proud to have Umi Uma feature our innovative fusion cuisine, blending traditional Japanese dishes with Peruvian ingredients.”

Crystal Serenity will embark on its first sailing from Marseille on July 31, visiting Cannes, Monte Carlo, Portofino, Calvi, Barcelona, Ibiza, Cartagena, Malaga, Portimão and Lisbon.

Crystal Symphony’s first sailing will depart from Athens on September 1, stopping in Santorini, Patmos, Kos, Izmir and Istanbul.

Reservations will be required to dine at Umi Uma. Guests travelling on Crystal Serenity or Crystal Symphony will enjoy one complimentary reservation per person, per cruise, for sailings of 11 days or less. For sailings of more than 11 days, two complimentary reservations will be included.

Additional reservations may be confirmed when onboard for a nominal charge, subject to availability.
