The Royal Scotsman, A Belmond Train, Scotland will unveil two new Grand Suites in May 2024.
The suites will take the train’s accommodation categories to four, spanning Grand Suites, Double, Twin and Single cabins.
Each suite will feature a double bed, a dressing table with a stool, a Scottish larch dining table and places to relax including a sofa and an armchair.
A two-night Highland Journey in a Grand Suites starts from £6,000 per person on an all-inclusive basis. The price includes private transfers to and from the airport or hotel and a treatment each in the train’s spa.
Belmond said the new Grand Suites will “mirror the look and feel of a luxury country house”. Interiors will take inspiration from the destination, with hues of green, grey, beige and blue used for the handcrafted wallcoverings, upholstery and furniture.
Decorative patterns will reference Scottish culture including Pictish stones motifs and Celtic symbolism. Local materials like stone and wood will be used in the ensuite bathrooms while bedrooms will boast dark wood wall panelling, intricate marquetry on the backdrop of the bed and an embossed bedhead.
The Royal Scotsman offers a range of two to seven-night journeys out of Edinburgh Waverley station. The train features two wood-panelled dining cars, live entertainment and activities including wild swimming, foraging, water rafting, whisky tastings and castle visits.
