Explore founder Derek Moore has joined forces with the owner of an Indian tour operator to launch an adventure specialist to the destination.

Totally India is initially offering more than 30 small group tours online but plans a significantly larger range when it produces a 48-page trade brochure in July.

It will target independent travel agents in the UK, and has already secured agreements to sell through agents in Australia and New Zealand.

Moore, also chairman of the Association of Independent Tour Operators, worked with joint founder Bashir Sheikh, owner of Delhi-based operator Sea and Sky, in the 1980s when he set up tour operator Explore.

He said: "I started doing this stuff 30 years ago and it gives me an opportunity to go back to what I love doing. If agents like what they see on our website we will happily take bookings before the brochure comes out."

Totally India hopes to offer a more in-depth and lesser-known range of tours in India than rivals by focusing on one destination.

"We are trying to exploit the fact most adventure companies only offer a few tours in each country. Our product is just India and we know it well," he added.

Totally India, a trading name under Moore's existing Tailor Made Groups Company, is Atol-bonded and will pay full commission, offering "competitively priced" tours using three to four-star accommodation.
