Accor to debut Hyde brand in Mexico

Accor is to build a new Hyde hotel and branded residences in the coastal resort town of Mazatlán, Mexico.

Hyde Hotel and Residences Mazatlán is expected to break ground in late 2021 and will open in late 2023.

The waterfront property will house 150 guestrooms, including 22 suites, as well as a pool overlooking the sea, spa and fitness facilities, retail boutiques, meeting and event space and access to a private beach.

Five dining outlets will include a full-service restaurant, a lobby lounge and bar, a gourmet cafe, a poolside grill and a speciality bar.

The resort will also feature a separate residential component comprising 50 one-, two- and three-bedroom premium residences.

The property will be located in the heart of Mazatlán’s tourist district, Zona Dorada, in the state of Sinaloa. Mazatlán was a popular American tourist and fishing destination in the 1940’s and 1950’s and has since become known for its retail, entertainment and hotel activity.

The new property will be the third in Hyde’s portfolio, joining Hyde Midtown Miami and Hyde Resorts and Residences Hollywood Florida.

Hyde Hotels and Residences became part of Accor last year after the hospitality giant acquired Hyde’s parent company Sbe and its associated brands, including SLS and Mondrian.

Accor has since focused on the global expansion of its luxury and premium lifestyle portfolio, with additional openings including the debut of SLS Cancun this month (February 2021) and the announcement of several Mondrian developments coming to Mexico City in Polanco and Del Valle for 2022.

“We are delighted to continue our international growth across our hotel brands in collaboration with Accor,” said Chadi Farhat, chief operating officer of Sbe.

“Mazatlán is the ideal destination for Hyde as it has grown into one of México’s leading travel destinations boasting a vibrant art scene and spirited culture.”

Hyde Hotel and Residences Mazatlán is being developed in collaboration with its owners, the Daniel Cárdenas Family, an international agriculture company based in Sinaloa.

Daniel Cárdenas added: “We are pleased to work in alliance with Accor, a perfect partner that shares our values of integrity and work ethics as the best lifestyle and entertainment operator.

“Being their first Hyde brand in Mexico, we are certain that this project will be an iconic property in Mazatlán, homeland of the Cárdenas family. We will promote the growth of a new Mazatlán, creating 210 new jobs, fostering the prosperity of its people.”
