Review: Fairmont Royal Pavilion

Aspire checks into this elegant Barbados property

A driveway flanked by swaying palms leads to the entrance of this elegant property, where staff await beside a tropical fish-filled pond, ready to offer cold towels and a refreshing glass of bubbles. Two pink-hued buildings house 72 rooms and suites, all of which boast sea views.

The Luxury Oceanfront Rooms are on the first floor, while the Beachfront Suites, with private decking areas and direct access to soft sands, are on the ground floor. Within the hotel’s tropical gardens, guests can find the Taboras and Palm Terrace restaurants and the pool.

While taking it easy on a poolside lounger or on the secluded beach seems to be the pastime of choice for many visitors, there are plenty of other options: non-motorised watersports, complimentary afternoon tea (once per stay for room guests or daily for those in suites) and in-room spa treatments are available to complete an ultra-relaxing stay.

Book it: B&B rates start from £683 a night based on two people sharing a Luxury Oceanfront Room. fairmont.com
