Tourism Australia relaunches Aussie Specialist programme

Tourism Australia’s agent training programme, Aussie Specialist, has been relaunched with a new look and feel, to equip travel agents with the tools needed to sell Australia.

Aussie Specialist, now in its 32nd year, has been upgraded to include greater personalisation, shorter and more interactive training modules and faster qualifying times.

The programme is run by Tourism Australia in conjunction with Australia’s state and territory tourism organisations and there are now more than 26,000 Aussie Specialists around the world.

Sally Cope, Tourism Australia UK & Northern Europe regional general manager, said Aussie Specialist is “one of the world’s leading destination training programmes”.

She said: “This refresh ensures it will continue to be a vital tool for travel sellers in the United Kingdom and Northern Europe.

“During the pandemic, the programme has also allowed us to continually engage with agents and the Australian industry, with the community created demonstrating enhanced skills and knowledge to lead the recovery for inbound tourism to Australia.”

Aussie Specialist is available in nine languages and is jointly promoted by Tourism Australia and all eight state and territory tourism partners.

Those who sign up can access sales resources and industry rates as well as the training modules. There are also invitations for exclusive events and monthly e-newsletter updates.

“Australia remains one of the most desirable travel destinations in the world” said Phillipa Harrison, managing director of Tourism Australia.

She said Aussie Specialist “helps to ensure we will be in the best possible position to convert travel demand into bookings as soon as borders reopen.”
