Rosewood to open Riyadh hotel

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has announced the launch of Rosewood Riyadh, set to open in the Saudi Arabian capital in 2025.

The hotel will be set on the historic, Unesco-listed site of At-Turaif, within Diriyah Gate – a mixed-use luxury development project which aims to become the country’s leading lifestyle destination.

It will be home to 240 rooms and suites, including 48 Wadi Suites housing one to three bedrooms. Other facilities will include four restaurants and bars, a fitness centre, kids’ club and ballroom as well as Asaya – Rosewood’s signature wellbeing concept.

Rosewood Riyadh will be the brand’s second hotel in Saudi Arabia, following the opening of Rosewood Jeddah in 2007. It will be the brand’s fourth in the Middle East, joining Rosewood Abu Dhabi and Rosewood Doha, set to open in 2022.

Sonia Cheng, chief executive officer of Rosewood Hotel Group, said: “We are thrilled to further our presence in the Middle East with an opening in Riyadh, a historic trade hub and exemplar of 21st century vision.

“The Diriyah Gate development is bringing the destination to an expanded international audience of discerning travellers and we’re excited to be a part of the city’s continued evolution.”

Jerry Inzerillo, Group chief executive of DGDA, added: “Rosewood will bring a level of refinement to Diriyah, mirroring the past whilst providing guests with the excitement of the future.

“Guests will be immersed in a cultural journey spanning the centuries through the joint efforts of Diriyah and the Rosewood team; we are excited to unveil more in the coming months.”

The opening is one of 25 new developments currently in the pipeline for the brand. Recently announced properties include Rome, Miyakojima, Hangzhou, Chongqing, Mexico City and San Francisco.
