Oetker Collection to open Capri property in 2022

Oetker Collection will open its 11th property on the Italian island of Capri.

Hotel La Palma, the island’s first hotel which dates back to 1822, will join the Oetker Collection’s Masterpiece Hotels in spring 2022.

The property is currently being refurbished, with the number of rooms and suites set to decrease as the brand looks to give guests more space.

The hotel currently has 80 rooms, but when it reopens next year under Oetker it will have 32 rooms and 18 suites.

Located close to La Piazzetta, the property will have a new rooftop restaurant and bar with views of Capri Village. Oetker Collection chief executive Timo Gruenert said it would be “the chicest evening hangout on Capri”.

The property will also have a newly built pool deck, and will have its own beach club, La Palma Beach Club, which will be located in Marina Piccola.

Gruenert added: “Honestly, I cannot think of anything more exciting than opening a beautiful Masterpiece Hotel on one of the most sought after and glamorous destinations in the world. The hotel will pay homage to la dolce vita and we will make sure that it is going to be right at the epicentre of Capri’s vibrant social scene.”

Speaking about the refurb he added: “We are decreasing the room count drastically from 80 rooms to 32 rooms and 18 suites, providing more spacious accommodation for our guests. Each room and suite, offering its own private balcony or terrace.

“The design of the rooms and public areas will combine classical and heritage elements of the building such as the arched windows and dome ceilings with more modern design features. Think of it as a contemporary version of a classic Capri hotel, featuring a colour range of terracotta, light greens and blues.
