Early careers scheme opened by Abercrombie & Kent

Abercrombie & Kent is providing new apprenticeship and intern opportunities for students and school leavers while revamping a graduate recruitment scheme.

The luxury travel company’s early careers programme offers paid opportunities for recent graduates while apprenticeships and intern ports are also available at its London and Cheltenham offices across the A&K and Cox & Kings brands.

The refreshed graduate programme hires travel specialists with a focus on sales, but the role also encompasses periods in product and marketing to give a wider understanding of the business.

The position is a permanent one with a guaranteed job at the end in the company’s tour operating business.

A graduate recruitment day at the Belmond Cadogan Hotel in London enabled candidates to meet key members of A&K’s UK team.

Apprenticeships at A&K are offered at the tour operating business and with the group’s destination management company. A&K hires apprentices in sales, accounts assistants and IT support technicians.

Internships are provided for those seeking a taste of a career in travel during summer holidays or as sandwich years during degree courses.

Chief tour operating officer Kerry Golds said: “Fostering young talent is a key part of our business model and provides new routes from a variety of backgrounds – it is a key part of our strategy to attract new people to our wonderful industry.

“Some of our most successful staff joined the business on our graduate scheme – a refresh and launching apprentice and internship routes is a testament to our commitment to attracting a diverse workforce.

“We’ve been overwhelmed with applications in our most recent graduate scheme call-out. We’re keen to hear from people from all sorts of backgrounds about joining the A&K family.”
